Name: Hon Yan, a.k.a. “The Mountain Bandit” and “Boar of the Mountain”

Special Markings: Though he almost always keeps his body well covered up, Hon Yan is said to have a very distinctive boar tattoo on the upper right back/shoulder region of his body.

Nation: Earth Kingdom, though he holds loyalty to NO ONE.

Likes: Money, power, winning, body decoration, smoking.

Dislikes: Soldiers/police (be it Earth or Fire), bounty hunters (especially those of the female variety with anteater-wolf beasts), finding out something you thought was of value was actual a cheap fake, admitting he is insecure about his earthbending.

Abilities: Earthbending. While Hon Yan is monstrously powerful, because he’s never had any formal training (being a mountain bandit and all), he lacks the refinement and technical skill that proves to be a very critical weakness for him. However, Hon Yan has a deadly proficiency with large weapons, and he uses this skill to help cover up and compensate for his lack of proper earthbender training.

Weaponry: Hon Yan’s weapon is a long, metal staff with a ball on each end. He sticks the staff into the ground, and uses his earthbending to create his weapon, be it a hammer, and axe, or whatever. Because of his bending abilities, he can compact the earth at the end of his pole to make it as hard as stone. Also, because earth is his element, Hon Yan can wield his massive earth-made weapon as though it were made of paper. With this, “The Mountain Boar” can make precise and devastating attacks without having to rely too heavily on his shaky and somewhat simplistic earthbending.

Background History: Hon Yan is a wanted man—not only by the Fire Nation, but by the Earth Kingdom as well. And for good reason. For nearly fifteen years the man has led a group of bandits that have terrorized travelers of all nations attempting to make their way through the Howling Wind Mountains. Hon Yan and his gang have crippled the Fire Nation’s attempts to ship goods through the mountain passes with their constant raids, earning the bandit leader their hate and a high bounty on his head. The Earth Nation shares similar animosity towards Hon Yan, not only because they too have suffered raids and attacks, but, more importantly, because he has become the living, breathing symbol of "justification" for Fire Nation's conquest of their country—to stop barbarians like him.

Personality: Underneath his brutal looks and even more brutal attacks, Hon Yan is a very shrewd man. This juxtaposition of cunning and sheer strength is what has made him the terror of the Howling Wind Mountains for well over a decade and damn near impossible to capture. Whether weaseling it out from under his enemy’s nose, or simply prying it from their smashed corpse, Hon Yan always gets what he wants. Always.

Entirely too many nice/female/firebender OC’s for the contest, so I thought I would try a nasty earthbending villain (hey, you don’t have to be from the Fire Nation to be bad, right? Although it does seem to help…>>; ). I don’t expect to win with this guy as my character, but still, he was a lot of fun to make.
