Isaia sent me the awesome-ass drawings just before Comic-Con, and I'm happy to say I've finished coloring them and adding special Booter touches. I'll be sending Isaia the layouts for the next page, so expect an update soon(er)!

I had a great time at Comic-Con this year, and a big thanks to all the people who can to the Avatar Fanpanel or plain just hung out and talked with us whenever. There was lots of great panels, tons of awesome great swag


BUT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT KORRA


It's amazing, ALL of it. I love the upcoming characters, but my favorite has to be Korra's shoulders, lol. And since this show looks like it's been packed to the brim with hotties, I'm gleefully looking forward tot he day I get to do "Avatar Discover Shipping: Korra Edition"! IT'S GONNA BE GREEEAAAAAAAT

The backgrounds and props, and just overall steampunky-goodness of the new series are really lush and awesome too, so needless to say I'll probably be obnoxiously whining for a Korra artbook too. Along with a soundtrack. For both series (Korra's chinese jazz omggggg)



SO! I have a huge sketchdump coming up of all the doodley nonsense and I drew while suffering massive squee attacks AND a new MAD Airbender parody page coming down the pike soon! Plus revisions to all the fanart with Tenzin and Korra in them. BECAUSE I WILL NOT SUFFER IMPERFECTION. Then I'll prolly be attending my other fandoms and that one comic I never update lolololol








Also, how do fellow TMNT fans feel about the upcoming series? The art style looks very...Madagascar-y to me, and that characters are starting to sound a little Flanderized (but HAHAHA, Booter, have you even *seen* the 80's series?)...and what happened to Splinter's faaaaace, makes me long for the 2007 Chester Cheetah look, lol. I DO love the Shredder's design, and that they aged April down a little (tho I would have put her in college, not high school....).

I KNOOOOOOW, RIGHT? Would you believe me if I'd said I was working on and off on this realistically-ish rendered poster of a Tron/ReBoot crossover? No? Well, I have been, so there.

While working on this poster, it's come to my horrified attention: I can't paint! Especially faces! This must be rectified! So, following the Tron poster, I think I'm gonna do some paints of the Avatar cast in the Airbender movie costumes...since the costumes were about the ONLY thing I liked in the movie (besides making fire from NOTHING!!!).


Haven't heard too much from Isaia's end on the Airbender MAD parody sooooo...I'll get back to you peeps when I have info on that.

But now that the holidays are over, and I'm still on break, I'll be putting more stuff up! I'm on an internship to help create an animated trailer for a film festival, so I'll still be pretty busy, but with NO HOMEWORK I imagine things will be decidedly easier.

So, I noticed this newfangled "add a drawing" thing to the comments button. Is this like tegaki where you can doodle in crap? Because I can see this being abused very easily... >:3

~Elvira is back on the air! As my roommates are so painfully aware, I have a deep love of Movie Mac, and now I can see new eps with all new shitty movies! Joy! Expect some Elvira fanarts put up for Halloween!

~ The Walking Dead on AMC! I've read the comics, and even though I'm perpetually weeble-wobbling between wanting to hug the characters and choke them to death, I am TOTALLY STOKED to see this shit come out on TV! No promises on fanart for this one...well...maybe for Michonne. ;3

~ Red Dead Redemption UNDEAD NIGHTMARE expansion pack! I don't play vidya games, but if there was one game (outside of Diablo III, which I am still suffering massive blueballs for) that would be my gateway drug, this is it. Roomies and I are really looking forward to seeing zombie BEARS! John Marston is a badass, and he WILL get fanart. Most likely silly fanart. He's a good straight man, he can take it. 8D

I don't know what the deal is, but I CANNOT seem to reupload edited arton dA without the upload box timing out. How am I supposed to make good on my promised fixes if I can't get them on the siiiiite...? I'm not sure if it's DeviantArt is being funny (it still takes .pngs, right?)or Comcast, but I'm getting a mighty suspicion it's the latter. OH MY RAGE

So, school has started again, so you know what that means: less art and more whining from Booter. I've got a Shadow Raiders piece I'm gonna ink and color. It's also come to my attention that I haven't submitted a gagstrip in like a YEAR. I HAD NO IDEA! It hasn't felt like a year, that's for sure. Guess I should pump out some shitty jokes, yes? I really wanna reach that 100 mark and be done with it.

AJSAJOPWERQJKAFSKL OMG SUPER EXCITING! There's more in-depth stuff out there, but quite frankly I'm too lazy to get it for you. But I did make some Korra art! Things like not knowing what characters look like isn't the sort of thing to hamper me!

It WILL be exciting to see what news comes out of SDCC this year though...I hope we get to see Tenzin! *crosses fingers*

I finally saw Airbender, which hit theaters a few days ago! Some reviews have been negative, other reviews have been also negative. SO YEAH. :/

I viewed this movie with the same malicious glee I usually reserve for MST3King bad pr0n fics. The delicious, creamy lulz that can be extracted from this movie are endless. Expect LOTS and LOTS of parody art in the future!

There were lots of problems with this movie, like EVERYTHING (with exception to the effects, shut up I liked some of the water scenes). I went in figuring it would just suck hard in a few areas, but instead was surprised to find a nice even coating of suck all around. The most *obnoxious* thing in the movie was the sheer amount of exposition, somehow mindbendingly topping even the casting in sheer offensiveness. Editing, dialog, acting, scene composition, LOGIC it's like all the most basic aspects of storytelling were COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN. I also felt a constant fear for Aang's virginity throughout. Uncomfortable!

It wasn't all bad. The bending effects were pretty good...when bending and not interpretive dance occurred. I liked the costumes, and some of the sets were nice to look at. Aang bouncing on his head while fighting Zuko tied up was cool too. But these nuggets of good were just not enough to cover for the bad.

Got my Avatar:The Last Airbender artbook near the beginning of this month and spent some time poring over it like the huge nerd I am. However, I have a misprint on two of the pages (like words and pictures CUT OFF) plus a huge ding from my book getting manhandled by delivery folk, so I think I'm going to return it because BOOTER DEMANDS PERFECTION. Which means I'll have to do the returns tango with Amazon over already opened goods ahhhhhhhh not looking forward to that...

But enough about me, let talk about this book!



~ I loved the pre-show stuff. It is so funny to see how the characters evolved! Especially BOYTOPH. I really wanted to see what BOYAZULA would have looked like, tho... Iroh and Zhao looked super scary before they got toned down and streamlined for the show! Zhao's badassity still shines through--thank GOD they kept the sideburns!

~ Ohhhhhhh my god I am so glad we got interior shots of the Fire and Earth palaces. And we got all the Fire Royalty portraits YESSSSSSSSSSS SO AWESOME

~ Bumi was based on an Evangelion WAT

~ WOLFBATS

~ The Wheel of Punishment icons make me laugh every time I see them. Especially the Community Service punishment. So cruel!

~ The reference to boards to finish pages were neat to look at. I think Bryan was having too much fun, tho...

~ I LOVE ALL THE COSTUMES AND POSTERS AND BACKGROUNDS AND DESIGNS. ;_;

~ Sandbenders look like Mummymon. O_O

~ WTF the outrageous armor on page 141. Ribbons flying for no reason!

~How come Zhao gets a whole page, Azula, Long Feng, and Combustion Man almost get a whole page, but Big Bad Ozai gets a quarter? Prbably because he was under-developed, which is a shame, because he had a lot of potential.

~ Piandao got a ton of good face studies! Great for future Piandao fanart!

~ The guy at the bottom right hand corner the Ember Island Players' poster has the creepiest expression ever. It begs inappropriate Photoshooping...

~ Chibis are the best thing ever, Y/Y?

~ The birthday card to the little girl Marissa who asked the creators to "make Aang alive" so she could play with him was SO CUTE! I wonder if 42 year old Martin would have gotten a nice card if he had made the same request...?

~ My favorite thing in the entire book is on page 110. If you REALLY KNOW ME it should take you all of two seconds to pick out what that is.



This book is badass, and I wanna give a BIG THANK YOU to the people who made this a reality! Years of wanting and now it's in my hot little hands! Which begs the question...


When are we gonna get an artbook for the movie? And Legend of Korra? ^_^

I have one more week of This Very Interesting Semester before summer! Finals, tours, and moving into a new apartment--BUSY BUSY! Once summer is here, tho, I will be returning to the deviation-a-week schedule that was goin' on before Class Madness started. And just in time too, coz it's lookin' like The Summer of Avatar, what with the movie and artbook coming out, plus the new series underway (which will be in the same universe, but will have ALL NEW characters--sorry, Ursa lovers)!


I feel pretty bad that I haven't been keeping up with personal art as well as art for the classroom--that stuff is important to maintain, even if it IS silliness (even my online life has suffered...NOOOO). Any more stupid fanart blockage and I might explode! Next semester, I've got to learn how to balance work and play better...it's too easy to come home, crawl in a corner, and not want to to anything. THERE MUST BE CONSTANT VIGILANCE.

Wooooooowwwwww, so as I've sure you've noticed, there is like NO update schedule this semester. Well, actually, it's more like a MWF schedule: "Maybe, Whenever, Forget about it!" Which is crazy, because I only have two art classes, but anyone whose been in upper-division industry-heavy classes knows numbers don't mean SHIT.

But anyway, gonna work real hard this week to see if I can squeeze some stuff out this weekend. And, of course, spring break is coming up! YESSSSSSSSS



Hoo, been kinda been on a Disney fix/hankerin' like crazy, especially villains. Hm, maybe I'll draw sumpin sumpin 'bout that... :3

Spring semester has started for me, with the hardest classes so far and the weirdest schedule evar! So, I have no idea what kind of schedule I'll have for stuff on HERE, until things settle down and I get something vaguely resembling a routine down, but here's upcoming stuff!

~ Got a TRV page 3/4 penciled
~ Gonna submit an entry for 's movie contest.
~ And a big-ass Metalocalypse piece, now that I have the shiz I need to get working on it.

Plus, you know, the usual crap.


ON A SIDE NOTE! I bought a Intuos4 finally! But haven't yet really got to sit down and play with it for an extended period of time, because Life Is Hard And Full Of Unexpected Shit. But no worries, that'll change because Intuos4 and I WERE MEANT TO BE TOGETHER~!

So, as I'm going through all the wonderful tutorials everyone pointed out to me (and there are a LOT--thank you SO SO MUCH, you guys! You're awesome!) it has become painfully obvious that my four-year-old 4x6 glitchy-cursored tablet isn't going to really cut it for realistic digital painting and rendering. So for those of you with digital painting experiance, do you guys have tablets you think work well for that type of work? I know Wacoms are pretty popular, but I was interested to hear what you guys have to say, since you work with them regularly and all.


And I'm still chuggin' along on the To-Do list. Two weeks or so left of break, and I'm hoping I can at least get TRV ch 9 done or mostly done. XDD

Okay, after having the weekend to recover from a finals period that was nothing short of apocalyptic, I'm back in the saddle and ready to get stuff hammered out! Avatar Discovers Shipping Three is penciled out and will be inked, colored, and put together tomorrow. Good children may enjoy it, but bad kids will have to sit out.

Following that, I have a TON of stuff to do, and only six weeks to do it. They are:

~ CELEBRATE Christmas by creating some inappropriate holiday fandom diddy
~ FINISH Watchmen Vs. Joker
~ FINISH TRV Chapter 9
~ GET HOT on an avatar storyboard collab
~ CREATE a bitching Metalocalypse piece to celebrate the new album, the new season, and the finish of the second Dethklok tour (which I was lucky enough to be front row in for their last show)
~ GET some gagstrips done, I mean jeez already
~ DO the all the other crap I said I would but can't remember right now
~ ALSO DO extra silly crap I say I never have time for but then go ahead and do anyway


So, busy. Story of my life.



BUT! In addition to that, I'm gonna be spending the break self-teaching myself how to digitally paint and render. Yikes! Now, some of you have given me some hardkore badass tutorials already (you know who you are), but if any of you folks know good painting tutorials (or ANY cool tutorials) here on dA or elsewhere that you think are worth sharing, lemme know! I'd love to take a look at them as I begin to learn and practice. 8D Thanks everybody, and have a awesometastic holiday! XDDDDD

Tomorrow marks the beginning of Finals Week, so I'm cutting the Deviation-A-Week thing off here, because there is NO WAY IN HELL I can get all my projects and studying done in time, and do extra stuff on the side. So you guys chill for a week and a half, and I'll be ready to PARTY HARD for the winter break!

So, with the way school is going, things are pretty tight with the alternating deviation-a-week schedule. Meaning, it's going to be REALLY hard for me to be able to work on bigger projects on the side. Projects like Avatar Discovers Shipping 3. So, to keep things easier on myself, I'd like you guys to choose...

Do you want Avatar Discovers Shipping 3 sooner or later? I can get it done sooner, if I forgo two (three TOPS) of the Avatar updates and just work on that, or waaay later, if I keep up updates as usual and just work on it at very little bits at a time. (I will update something Avatar this week, tho)
