You can tell Barbie is a PRO coz she knows how to keep blood spatter off her dress.

You know, I don’t get it. How often do we see Barbie take crap? Go ahead, type in “Barbie” on the DeviantArt search tab, tell me how mangled Barbies you see. Seems people have a lot of pent up rage against a doll that puts “unrealistic standards” on girls.

But look up “Bratz”on DeviantArt. Hardly a harsh word spoken about them. The dolls who tell you to have big eyes, thick lips, tons of makeup, the best and most expensive clothes, and a boyfriend OR YOU WON’T BE POPULAR AND THEN HOW WILL YOUR LIFE HAVE MEANING?!

This is a load of bullcrap.

Barbie tells you that you can aspire to anything. That’s why she comes as a vet, doctor, lifeguard, fairy. Ken comes prepackaged with love—you’ll never have to dress like a slut to win his affection. And sure, Barbie’s build is out of proportion, but if you’re going to throw stones at her, you better be willing to fling them at Bratz. Coz if people actually walked around with faces like that, I’d be running in the other direction.

So why are Bratz getting so much positive attention? They say the reason that Bratz are becoming bigger than Barbie is because Bratz emphasize “self expression” with their "passion for fashion".

This is also a load of bullcrap.

When your “self expression” goes no further than clothes and makeup, when your aspiration goes no further than popularity and boys, and when you can see no further into your future than high school (after all, once you enter college you’re an old boring person who "just doesn’t get it!"), that’s a pretty superficial life. What are we turning little girls into?

It’s just…vile. Those Bratz dolls are vile. To me, they represent a capitalism that exploits the minds of young girls, making childhood shorter, and sexuality more important. They also rob girls of a chance to think about what they want to do with their lives via job roleplaying, because the only thing that matters to these dolls is indeed “fashion”.

Screw your shallow Bratz dolls. Barbie and I are going to go camping.

*gets off soapbox* >>;

EDIT: Looks like Mattel has banished Bratz! One less poor role model for children everywhere! Now, if we can just get Barbie back on track...

I hate them both. But Barbie's far more varied and mature than Bratz (hence their name).

I rather enjoyed this. Though, I may have favored your rant more then the actual picture. Not that the picture isn't awesome. Something about girls dolls chopping off each others heads is funny to me.

I recall only having one bratz doll as a child...and it scared me because her feet popped off... O.o

Amen to that. Whatever happened to the days of "we girls can do anything"? Back in the eighties and nineties, Barbie was a business woman, an astronaut, a member of at least four branches of the U.S. military (including the Marines, I think), and even ran for president. Maybe I'm showing my age here, but these days it seems like it's all about being a princess.

I love Bratz and Barbie can't we all get along?

Finally someone said that!!!
When I was a girl, I loved barbie, not for the looks, for fashion, but for the fantasy. Well looks helped.

But Bratz - I just hate those, their digusting. Have you seen the TV show? And they say that pip shows are worse!

Also you forgot to mention that the have no noses - so if implying on a plastic surgery for eyes, lips - add the nose.
Wonderful setting to self-hate in adulthood.

At least Barbie GRADUATED from not just high-school, but COLLEGE, became a vet, enlisted in the army, became a pilot, a doctor, and even PRESIDENT! D8

What have the Bratz done? Become babies who wear clothing meant for 18 year olds. :|

That's NOT all!

Barbie has also been an Olympic Gymnist, Horse Trainer, Doctor, Surgeon, Soldier, Astronaut, Teacher, Journalist, and computer engineer! Heck, she and Ken even split up for a while, proving that Barbie doesn't need a man to fufill her life. Barbie has always been glamourous and fashionable, but she also has the ability to be ANYTHING. You can have style and brains too!
How many women do you know who can drive a corvet, a motorcycle, a jeep, ride a horse, babysit little kids, teach a class, walk dogs, perform surgery, sing a solo in the spotlight, fly to the moon, and still strut down the runway without breaking a sweat? Barbie is about the beauty, the diversity, the ambitions and the versitile adaptability of all women.
Next time you wanna diss Barbie, try comparing her resume to yours before you throw stones.

I know, I never had I Bratz doll when I was a kid, I always thought they looked weird. Now looking back, they're slutty and bratty and they still have stupid gianormus heads
One of the reasons my friends used to have a fun time playing "omigod high school out there prom drama" with them when we were in 6th grade.
I guess that was also messed up :D

Seconded on all accounts. I grew up with Barbie dolls - had and still have dozens everywhere in boxes of old toys. Looking at the Bratz dolls made me shake my head. They're not pretty and are/were just lame, fake dolls.

Fanart is great and well done.

Eventhough my sister and I played with Bratz for awhile, we got tired of them quickly, and the Bratz movie/cartoons only made me despise them more. It still pisses me off to this day that people still point fingers at Barbie about girls' body woes, when even skinnier and bitchier dolls have been made. Plus Barbie has over 130 different professions, so what's not to love? I say screw Bratz and all hail Barbie!!!!!!! XD

I think people overreact way too much to this Bratz are bad influences.
You people know that Bratz aren't parents to these children right? It's the parents job to raise children right from wrong. Like mine did. I collected Bratz dolls when I was 9, I had a few friends and a cousin that collected them also, and a 6 year old cousin that did too. I'm a good person, my friends are, my cousin is one of the sweetest people ever, and my little cousins a sweetheart as well. You people haven't actually been in a Bratz fans shoes so you can't say they influenced us in a bad way. The real point of Bratz is expressing who YOU are and not caring what others think of you, and doing what YOU want to do. They've been teaching that for YEARS, the amount of years they've been here. They have a thing for fashion yes, but they also turned that into a profession. In the shows and movies they work on a fashion magazines cause it's something they enjoy doing, it's a job, and at least hte girls have flaws unlike Barbie. I'll admit, I was a huge Barbie fan when I was little and sometimes I still have a thing for them, but if you think Bratz are bad influences then you need to look at Barbie, sometimes to me she tells people to be perfect cause she can do just about anything, scratch that she CAN do anything. Again though, I give full responsibility towards the parents. If girls want to collect Bratz or Barbie's let them, I collected them both when I was little (and I was a Britney Spears and Spice Girls fan) and I'm a very good person now. I don't dress inappropriate and I never do inappropriate things, I put my dreams before boys, and I also have my own style and my own way of thinking. In some ways I do have Bratz to think for that, I really think collecting them help me discover who I truly was.
And truthfully, I've always found them to be very pretty, their look is unique to me.

I agree with you.

My boyfriends little sister loved Bratz, but we refused to buy them for her. We bought her My little pony instead. :D
scaragh Featured By Owner Mar 6, 2010
Ah, I know this is old, and that Bratz are no longer plaguing young girls everywhere, but you are so right. My little sister got a Bratz doll a few years back, and it was a tennis one, which was great, because she was playing tennis and sports are good and all...anyways, I read the back of the box, and the message, no kidding, was "It doesn't matter if you win or lose, what matter is how good you look when you win!" Bartz are so UGLY I never understood why girls like those disproportioned dolls. Antique Baries are so great, I really wish they just revert to the older style. Oh well, here's hoping for a china-faced doll if I ever have a daughter.
Dragonwolf123 Featured By Owner Dec 28, 2009
See, I find these things rediculous.

Barbie now isn't the best of role models, but back in the day, look at her. She was all about career and the like. Her body is off, yes, but at least it is more in proportion then these Bratz.

I mean, when I talk to thirteen year olds who deliberately wear these high skirts and put their legs up in trains and flash their underwear to guys to make them uncomfortable, I feel ill.

There is bratz deodorant. I have seen six-year-olds going and buying this crap. Seeing six to ten year olds wearing foundation. It is foul. Absolutely foul.

What's worse?

I know a ten year old who only owns thongs.
JBarnzi88 Featured By Owner Dec 16, 2009
Yay for Barbie! I grew up on her as a child, my first one was
probably a Sparkle Eyes Barbie (can't fully remember as it was
way too long ago).

Ugh, I NEVER liked those Bratz dolls since they first appeared.
I just found them revolting, not to mention, superficial and bitchy.

I once babysat a 7 year old girl who's totally into those horrid dolls. And I mean, REALLY, into them: the dolls, dvds, books all of it. Worse yet, she'd flick her hand at me and rudely spout 'What-EVER' or 'Shut-up y'oll' etc for no good reason. Ugh...where's a wooden spoon when you need it XDD Kidding aside, it's pretty obvious that these sluttish bitch-dolls are major bad influence on today's generation of little girls. But I'm glad Mattel finally went and gave Bratz the boot up the butt.

Barbie's awsome, but so are BratZ, i only like bratz because they have the nicer hair and come with twin, or triplet packeges, AND they're heads don't come off so easy.
Natures-Rose Featured By Owner Sep 1, 2009
I always loved Barbies as a girl because in my mind it meant that a women could work in any occupation they wanted. They were professional like the astronaut and vet ones. Bratz were uggghhh. They even had movies about them doing what evil little things are best at: gossiping, ruining the point of love, and being just plain disgusting. At least Barbie movies were good and had morals and lessons attached.

I never liked the Bratz dolls either. Call me old fashion but I grew up on getting barbie dolls for christmas and birthdays; Barbie represents innocent girlhood where you can make-believe what you wanna grow up to be, Barbie was a doll idol! She comes in all nations as red-head,brunette,asian,and black and everyone plus daddy loved her. Now you hardly see her dolls on commercials, just these fashion-obessed slut dolls brainwashing today's young girls. Personily the Bratz dolls freaked me out and I thought they were ugly but thank god they stopped Bratz line up after the movie was released. I'm guessing the movie didn't sell out as much as the creaters wanted.Hurry for justice!
